Excursion to the Zillergrund
Here arises the Ziller, the river that gives the Zillertal her
name. Here nature is still intact and meeting nature is a
wonderful experience. Hiking and biking with family or
friends. A rustic and romantic flat hiking valley, in several
places you can catch the public bus. Starting point for
numerous hikes and alpine crossings
Across the Zillergrund from Mayrhofen until Häusling to
the dam of the Zillergründl (1.800 m).
to the Schlegeis reservoir
Over the Schlegeis Alpine Road to the Schlegeis reservoir.
Near the picturesque village Ginzling - only a few miles
south of Mayrhofen - you will reach the reservoir over the
Alpine Road Schlegeis. There you will impressed by the
131 m high and 725 m long double curved dam. An
imposing structure of technique. In summer the
Schlegeis reservoir is the ideal starting point for walks,
mountain hikes and alpine tours; Pfitscher Joch, Olperer Hütte, Friesenberg Haus
and the walk along the
reservoir are just some of the highlights.
